Earlier this year, the Nokia N9 was one of the most talked about handsets on the web, yet Nokia’s partnership with Microsoft seemed to have killed off the MeeGo-based smartphone. However, it looks like the N9 has had a second wind, recently passing FCC testing.
We’ve seen hundreds of rumours about the Nokia N9, a MeeGo-based super phone, but nearly all of them died a death when Nokia announced that it would be using Microsoft’s Windows Phone operating system on future handsets.
It’s a bit odd to see that the Nokia N9 has once again risen to the top, making an appearance on an FCC (Federal Communications Commission) filing.
The filing doesn’t tell us any more about the Nokia N9’s specs – rumoured to include a 4.2-inch OLED screen, sliding QWERTY keypad, 12-megapixel camera and a GPU to put the Nokia N8 to shame – but it does confirm the handset’s existence.
Whether we’ll be seeing the Nokia N9 over on these shores in the near future remains to be seen, but we’ll definitely be interested to find out what Nokia is up to.
